1. Estimates and quotes

Ballpark figures given by phone, text, or in response to photos are good-faith estimates based on what we can see, and are non-binding. Pricing becomes binding only when we issue a written quote or scope of work and you approve it. A written quote covers exactly the work it describes; work added or changed after approval is priced and approved separately. Savings comparisons on this site (such as "about 80% less than replacement") describe typical outcomes, not a promise about any specific project.

2. Payment

Payment terms appear on your quote and invoice. Credit card payments are subject to a transaction fee in accordance with the card processor's and bank's terms, stated at the time of payment; you can avoid it by paying by check or other listed methods. Invoices are due as stated on their face.

3. Work on aged wood — what to expect

Our specialty is repairing wood that is old, weathered, and often partially decayed. Working on such material has natural consequences: repair work on aged wood and old finishes may cause paint to peel, crack, or flake beyond the immediate work area, and may cause damage to adjacent elements that are already worn, brittle, or deteriorated (old glazing, fragile trim, failing caulk, corroded fasteners, and similar). This is a natural consequence of working on aged materials, not defective workmanship, and RotGone is not responsible for it. Where we see elevated risk, we'll flag it before starting.

4. Hidden defects discovered during work

Rot hides. Opening up a sill, frame, or wall frequently reveals hidden defects — concealed rot, water damage, insect damage, or structural deterioration — that could not be seen during the assessment. When that happens, we stop, show you what we found, and price the additional work. Repairing hidden defects requires your separate approval and separate payment; it is not included in the original quote. If you choose not to address a discovered defect, that's your right — but RotGone is not liable for defects left unaddressed at the customer's choice, or for their consequences over time.

5. What we need from you onsite

The customer provides access to electricity and a clear working space of approximately 100 square feet near the work area, plus reasonable access to the areas being repaired (moved furniture, unlocked gates, pets secured). Delays caused by lack of access may affect scheduling and cost.

6. Five-year workmanship warranty

Every repair we perform carries our 5-year workmanship warranty: if our workmanship fails within five years of completion, we return and correct it at no charge. The warranty covers the work we performed — not normal wear, paint and finish weathering, movement or failure of materials we didn't work on, new damage from leaks, impacts, or alterations by others, or defects you chose to leave unaddressed under section 4. The warranty is valid for the original customer at the original property and requires the invoice to have been paid in full. 7. Insurance

RotGone (FeiRus LLC) is fully insured, carrying general liability and workers' compensation coverage. Certificates of insurance are available on request.
